Further public consultation is expected in the coming months, and we will continue to work with government to ensure the legislation supports a landing zone that protects growth and investment.

Following the Budget, the government confirmed a major amendment to the Bill: a six-month qualifying period for unfair dismissal. This reflects the CBI’s sustained engagement and addresses one of employers’ biggest concerns, giving firms greater clarity and confidence to hire.

Our Employment Rights Bill working group will continue to shape the business community’s input, and is open to all CBI members. CBI Northern Ireland will also work closely with the NI Executive to ensure the Good Jobs Bill delivers outcomes that help unlock growth.
